  • OCI reissuance clarification

I am an Overseas Citizen of India. I am an US Citizen and my US passport was renewed on 24/07/2010. My OCI certificate of registration was issued on 15/12/2007 and my age at that time was 69 years. I request you to kindly advise me concerning the following:

In the Frequently Asked Questions in the OCI website, question 16 concerning this issue states "OCI registration certificate and visa have to be reissued each time a new passport is issued up to completion of 20 years of age and once after completion of 50 years of age."My OCI documents were issued for the first time when I was 69 years old beyond the completion of 50 years of age. Now I am 71 years old.

Since the OCI documents were first issued to me far beyond the completion of 50 years of age, kindly advise me whether I should apply for re-issuence of the OCI documents.

I need to go to India to see my old relative who is not keeping good health. I request you to kindly advise me whether I could travel to India using my OCI Card + Old US passport with the U Visa + the New US Passport.

    Thanking you
