  • OCI Application and moving to new address

    Hi there,

I am about to send my my OCI application ( decided to send it now, than later due to travel planned to India but within a months time i will be moving to a new place nearby, i can not push my moving date as well.

So how do i got about receiving my OCI card to my new address ? My application is going to have my current address in the drivers license. I was planning on doing FEDEX, so i was wondering will the OCI card be returned? or should i update my address with FEDEX or what is the best approach here so that I can still get my OCI card, also move to different place etc ?

    thanks for the help

I think you can setup mail forwarding with USPS, FedEx & UPS when you move. Talk to your local FedEx office for confirmation and details. But I believe it is valid for only certain amount of time (30 or 60 days), if your OCI gets delayed beyond that, then it will probably be returned.

IMO, best option would be to apply with the new address even if it means waiting a few more weeks to apply. You can get address proof for the new address - lease agreement or mortgage closing statement, and you can also get the driver's license re-issued with the new address if you have the above proof.

This variant is pretty good; I thought it was still easier to state the moving date. However, you’re to decide. When I was moving, I had a similar situation, and it was hard to understand how to do it. Thanks to my friend from Aceline Moving, I’ve managed to do it easily. Just make sure that all the necessary documents are gathered. This may cause huge problems when moving if you don’t consider all the factors. It is usually a stressful process, and people want to make it quicker and relax in a new house. But I suggest you be careful and accurate about all the necessities before moving
