Can I obtain Surrender Certificate and OCI on same day?

if i drive up to Indian consulates in USA, can I get my Indian Passport cancelled and have the OCI card process complete in one day?

is this doable? please advise as i need this done asap.

The simple answer to your question is NO.

Getting a Surrender Certificate and an OCI card are two different processes, each taking its own time. You need a Surrender Certificcate in order to apply for an OCI card. SC process can take anywhere from three to six weeks depending on the consulate office and their workload. Getting an OCI card takes about two to three months.

If you do not have a visa for India, get the SC first and apply for an Entry visa if it is urgent.
