  • PIO card Versus OCI

    Hello there,

This is about the PIO card Versus OCI card debate and I am having to choose either one for my children. I have children born here [recently] and they only have US passports. I and my wife are US Citizens with PIO Cards.

I would like to apply for a PIO card for my children and I would like to know if they are eligible for it. Your website does say they are eligible if they are born to Indian Citizens. Would that apply here as well?

Also, we were told that the Indian consulate in San Francisco DOES NOT send the application forms to New Delhi for approval and that it is faster. Any truth to it? However the caveat is to send them original passports which I am very leery about.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could send me your thoughts and advice soon.

    Thanks

    1. You children can apply for PIO or OCI, whichever you want.
    2. There is no truth to it.
