OCI Passport Update - Processing time

Hi,

My 6 year old daughter is an OCI holder with UK passport. We got her new passport on Sep, 2020. I believe as per the recent changes in the OCI, I do not have to re-apply for her OCI. I just need to upload her new passport and photograph to update - which I have done now.

I haven't got any confirmation email that it has been processed. Does anyone know how long is the processing time? Can I visit India (on the OCI) before I get their confirmation?

I just checked the status of the OCI application. It says "Your application has been acknowledged by competent authorities. It is under consideration.". Can anyone help with the below questions?

• Does anyone know how long is the processing time?
• Can I visit India (on the OCI) before I get their confirmation?

a) Processing time varies with consulate. For my kid it took just over 6 weeks. But yours seems to be moving quicker as it has already been acknowledged. So, may be updated sooner.

b) You do not have to wait for final confirmation. You can travel while the update about the new passport is being processed. My kid travelled to India & back before the details were updated.
