Att: The Indian Ambassador to USA
I am a Indian born US citizen living in USA. I came to USA as a foreign graduate citizen in 1959. I graduated in 1962 with a Master's degree in Engineering from NYU. I became a naturalized citizen of USA in 1960s. Since then I have traveled to India on several occasions with an Indian visa for several purposes. As recently as last year I obtained an Indian Visa with no problems. This year I applied for a visa for a visit to India. I was asked produce my Indian Passport from 1959 or provide several documents to prove my legal entry into USA.
I do not understand why the Indian Government is interested in how I entered USA. I produced my naturalization documents and my US passport. None of these where satisfactory to the consulate. How do you expect me to hold on to my expired Indian passport for fifty years? For what reason would I hold on to it?
I would appreciate your response to these questions.
Thank you in advance.
