  • PIO card- Washington DC embassy

    Dear Immihelp,

I'm applying for PIO card for my new born son. If parents are claimed as
basis for grant of PIO card they asking copies of indian passports of both
    parents.

I have valid Indian Passport but my wife's passport expired in last month
applied for renewal still didn't get it.

My question is.. Does Embassy accept copy(notarized) of my wife's expired passport?? as we have to submit copies of both parents passport for my son's PIO card.

    Greatly appreciate your help!!!

Thank you very much for your information!!!

I will submit my wifes expired passport along with my valid passport.

one more last question...I am planning to mail the application...how do i do that? Meaning should i use USPS or FEDEX service to send the documents?? Embassy of India Washington DC website is confusing..one place they mentioned that FEDEX(preferbley) and other place they mentioned that UPS mail.

      Please clarify

          PIO application - frustrated Indian

          Hi Everybody,

Can anyone help me? I applied for PIO card for my son (new born) on 08/12/2010 with the money order attached for $185 + $20 for postal charges and all notorized documents required to Washington DC. I was waiting for my PIO card,

But after 45 days I got all my documents back with no explanation letter and just a red ink mark as 'Money order missing'.

Frustration #1 - There is nobody in Indian embassy (washington DC) who can answer my call. I tried many times no reply.

Frustration #2 - I had to go to Washington and pay another $233 to get 5 year visa

Frustration #3 - I started the process with USPS to claim the missing money order and I came to know that somebody encashed it already. So I cannot get the money back.

I am trying to find out what happened to my money? How can catch hold of somebody in Indian embassy?

Can anybody please help me in this?

Note: I am travelling back to india on October 10th and i am not coming back in near future.

            Need Encashed Copy of MO

Please visit the USPS office which issued the MO. Request the encashed copy and they might charge you fo this.

I am sure it has been cashed by the DC consulate. Send this copy with a covering letter to the Consulate General asking for inquiry.

Let them know your address in India. Also ask for compensation for the visa applied and for the time/harassment.

Keep following up from India by emails and phone/fax.

If required you can submit another complaint in India with the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.

This is a complete case of cheating/looting your money...Delhi ka Thug
