Renunciation Cert for expired Indian ppt

Hi,
My wife's Indian passport expired Mar'10 and w became citizens of US in June'10. I did not apply for the Indian ppt's renewal as I knew we will be becoming US citizens soon.

Now my question is, do I need a Renunciation/Surrender certificate for my wife's expired passport?
I could not find any literature elaborating this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
