Respected Sir/Madam
I am an Indian and I was in USA from Nov 07 till Mar 08 on M-1 visa (student) and during this period I had lost my Indian passport. Then, I applied for a new one and I got the new passport from THE CONSULATE OF SAN FRANCISCO and came back to India.
But, somehow wrong previous passport no. has been entered in my new passport. My previous passport no. was G **** **2 but instead of this G **** **0 has been entered.
I contacted the Regional Passport Office in India. They said that they couldn’t do anything in this matter as the passport was issued in USA.
Then, I contacted the Consulate of San Francisco also. They’ve found that it’s a mistake on their part and they are ready to rectify it. They said that If I go to USA on M-1 visa, they can issue services to me. Can I travel in this condition with this error and get it corrected back there in USA, as I have to go to USA for my further study? I’ll be going on M-1 visa only.
Please suggest me a better and appropriate way out.
Regards
