  • US Born Baby to Indian parents

    My questions are :
If I register his birth in Indian Consulate and get him Indian Passport , will he have problems at the time of leaving US without US passport(as US still consider him as a US Citizen until age of 18 when he makes an active decision about his citizenship) ?
Also for future entry in US (before age of 18) will he be able to get US Visa Stamped on his Indian Passport from US Consulate or they will only provide him US Passport considering him as US Citizen which will invalidate his Indian passport (as per Indian law he cannot hold passports of two countries) ?
Lastly, if he can get US Visa stamped on his Indian passport, will he still hold the right to choose his citizenship at the age of 18 ?

Travel out with Indian passport is fine. To return back to US, you would have to give up Indian PP, apply for a US PP in India as the child will not be eligible to get a US visa as they are considered US Citizens by birth and a visa can not be issued.
