Hello,
I became a US naturalized citizen in April. I received my US passport in May. Immediately after I received my US passport, I applied for renunciation of my Indian passport through VFS. My location is San Francisco.
I believe my application was processed correctly as I received a new one-page Surrender Certificate signed and stamped by the Vice Consul from the San Francisco Consulate General. Along with this, I also received my previous Indian passport with a canceled stamp (due to foreign citizenship).
Earlier, during the VFS application process, I had to sign and submit two original copies of the Renunciation Certificate form. It looked something like this: https://www.vfsglobal.com/one-pager/...lable-form.pdf
The bottom section of that same form seems to be a Surrender Certificate that is expected to be filled out by an officer from the Consulate General. I was expecting to receive this back after the Consulate Officer signed it but I never received this specific form back. Instead, as I mentioned earlier I received a separate Surrender Certificate with no reference to my Renunciation form (though it included the same details from it).
So is this expected? That I don't get back the Renunciation Certification form I signed and submitted to VFS? And instead I get a separate Surrender Certificate from the Consulate General?
Thank you!
