  • Indian E-Visa without Passport Renunciation

    Hi,

I need some information on India on E-Visa without renunciation of the Indian Passport

Could anybody pls help here as I have acquired US citizenship and If I can travel on E-Visa to India?
Indian passport is expired in Late 2019 - so is it still considered as "Valid" and if its details needs to be filled up in the form on section "any other valid passports / travel documents"?

Also lastly if renunciation of passport can be done in India after traveling to India on E-Visa?

    Appreciate your reply

    Regards

This may be a late reply. There is a 3-month grace period to use the Indian passport after getting US citizenship. Let everyone getting US citizenship to know this.

confirming that I travelled on e-Visa to india without renunciation completed
I did initiate the renunciation process (to technically say that I have only US passport)
renunciation happened in due time around the time I returned back

I was way beyond the 3-month grace period, and will recommend not to depend on the mercy of immigration desk at Indian airports to interpret these rules at 2am; expect some cold treatment for "foreigners" who were once Indians

Hi, could you please let us know what details you entered to complete the application mainly

        1) How did you acquire nationality - naturalisation or birth

        2) Did you enter your indian passport details under any other passports/travel documents section?

        3) Have you ever visited India - I am assuming to enter no here as I have never previously received an indian visa

        4) Countries visited in the last 10 years - I was confused whether to write the countries visited on the indian passport or only my british passport which I received recently.

I would greatly appreciate your help as I recently received my british citizenship and am unable to surrender my indian passport before urgently needing to travel to India.
