  • URGENT: Visa question, how to answer after renouncing indian citizenship

    Hello

I got my Australian citizenship and am now attempting to get a e-tourist visa to go to India on my Australian passport. This would be the first time on a visa as I previously had Indian citizenship and always travelled on that (it is now in process of being renounced).

I am struggling with 2 questions on application.

    1. Previous visas/currently valid visa details
    - I have never travelled to India on a visa before so I do not have a previous 'visa' to answer in this question. Although it asks have you ever visited India before am I correct to say 'no' as I have NOT visited on a VISA before only as a NATIONAL? If i say yes I have to answer visa details which I do not have since I travelled on a visa.

    2. Countries visited in the last 10 years
    - I have visited India many times in last 10 years as a national while I had my Indian citizensip. So should I say I have visited India in this question atlhough I have answered NO in previous question? (previous visa question)

I am confused as to how to answer these two qustions for my situation, any help is appreicated. I have tried calling helpline but after 1 hour on hold no one answered and It disconncected. No response to email either

    Thank you in advance

If you say yes to "have you ever visited India before", what are the options for visa type? If you have "other" or something related to the Indian passport, choose that.

I see the stark warning for providing incorrect information on India stay!

I am also on the same boat, but my case is my son travelled using OCI, but there only VISA options available to select. My son just turned 20 and we do not have time to reissue OCI on new passport.

        Hi,

Were you able to complete your application and receive the e-visa? I am in the same boat and was also unsure what to mention

        1) Did you acquire citizenship by birth or naturalisation

        2) Whether I need to enter my indian passport details under any other travel documents section?

Hello everyone I have an update, I selected no to the first question as I had no visa details to give, and put india in country visited in last 10 years. The visa got approved within 2 days. I got my citizenship through naturalisation, hope this helps !

and to answer q above I don’t think you need to provide Indian passport details in any section
