Passport submitted to wrong consulate

Hi
I applied for passport renewal at the Washington DC consulate on Oct 27, 2010. However, I stay in Pittsburgh and Realized only a few days ago I should have submitted it to New York Consulate. I have not heard back from the consulate yet. I tried calling then hundreds of time and no one picks up the phone. i have emailed them a number of times and no one responds. Does anyone know if the Washington DC consulate will send me back my passport or will forward it to New York consulate. Is there anyone to contact these people. I am thinking of going to Washington DC consulate to get info on my case. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I am going to submit my wife's application today and was about do the same mistake , can someone pls confirm where do I need to apply for renewal of passport of my wife if I am the resident of Maine state ?

You have to submit to NY consulate. /indian-consulate-in-newyork/
