Hello,

I was wondering if you can help me with the following question.

We recently acquired US Citizenship (a month back) and now want to apply for OCI. Per Embassy website it suggests that it will take 3-4 months. Also from the website I gather that during any part of the OCI process we are NOT supposed to submit the our current passport (US one) but the attested copies. Is this true?

If the above is true, then,

1. Can I travel to India on US passport with Indian Visa while my OCI application is being processed - in case on any urgent situation that may arise?
2. Since my OCI application will also include a request for renunciation of Indian Citizenship, do I need to have it if in case of emergency I have to travel to India on a visa (US passport)? How long does it take to get the renunciation certificate?
