  • Filling Renunciation Certificate in VfsGlobal

    Hi All,

Can someone help me to give answer on below questions?

The question is related to the section "
    7. Names and full particulars of my minor children, if any, who are / were Citizens of India"
Name of Minor (s) --- Date of Birth --- Place of Birth --- US/Foreign Passport# --- Date of Issue --- Place of Issue

My kid is minor. She is Indian citizen and has US green card and we have not applied her US passport yet. We have applied N600 to get Certificate of US Citizenship on her name. Once we get that, we will apply her US passport and then will apply renunciate of Indian citizenship for her.

I got the US passport, and going to apply for renunciation of Indian passport.
    My questions –
Do I need to enter my kid’s name in the Renunciate Certificate of my application? She does not have US passport yet. What to enter in above fields marked in red?

I’m in the process of renunciation of Indian passport for my minor child(17yrs). I have questions about notarization of parental authorization and sworn affidavits. I went to my bank, PNC, and they notarized. But they didn’t touch the original form. Instead they signed and stamped a paper labeled “North Carolina Notary Affirmation “, and stated that we signed the authorization document in front of them. The notary says as per the NC law, notary public can not sign the original document. I’ll try to go to UPS tomorrow but I’m afraid the outcome will not be different. Now my concern is , will this kind of notarization work with vfsglobal? Also, do we need to notarize the government application form? Also for minor, who signs the renunciation certificate?

Minor's don't need a naturalization certificate to apply for US Passport. Their parent's NC is sufficient. You should've applied for your kid along with yours.

USCIS is taking over a year to process N-600 applications. I suggest not to wait for your Kid's NC and to apply for his/her passport asap with you NC.

If you are not in a hurry, you should wait for your kid's US passport and apply for renunciation together.

This is the general rule for a notary. They will notarize confirming what you want to prove - meaning they will notarize the document you sign saying the truth. Some notaries, particularly those who deal with immigrants, like librarians, have a standard template seal (stamp) that says something like "This is the copy of the original document." They will make you sign the document and notarize it.
