Hi,
I was hoping someone can help/guide me in regards to a visa application I need to do for India. Bit of background first as it may be a bit complicated and everything is happening at once.
I am from Mauritius and currently reside in Los Angeles. I am married to a US citizen and recently (09.21.10) applied for my I715 (removal of conditions for Green Card) since it was expiring in Dec 10. My driving license has our old address on it and that as well expires in Dec 10. Unfortunately, due to recession, I lost my job a while back and has been unable to get one (even though I am still trying to look for work in construction). My wife and I want to attend a friend's wedding in India next January and we already bought our tickets.
I was looking on the website for the Indian visa, proof of address is attested by having the driving license address match the current address on the form. Now I am worried that I may not be granted a visa as I do not have my new Green Card yet.
I am planning on having an Infopass on my passport next week so that will help (I hope) and a cover letter stating my situation! I am also including the wedding card and am even thinking of asking my friend to write me a letter of invitation. I also have some friends in India, whom I am staying with. I will probably have them send me an email as well.
Anything else people can recommend to me? Any help/ suggestions will be much appreciated.
