Hello Friends,
I was just wondering if I can visit Washington DC Embassy in person for U visa stamping on my US Passport. In website, only optioin I see is by mail.
My document status is currently 'printed' with date 27-NOV-2010 and pending to be dispatched from India. Overall, I think it would about 8-10 days before the final status changes to "Please send the US Passport for U visa stamping" and maximum of 20 days thereafter to receive US Passport with OCI card. I am flying to India on 29th Dec and I am afraid that If I send US passport by mail for stamping, they will not send it back by 29th. Additionally, I cannot apply for India visa as they have not mailed me my Renunciation Certificate and cancelled original Indian passport which is a must for visa application.
Does anyone have had similar experience? Can I visit embassy in-person for U visa stamping and collection of OCI card? I am not sure if there is any way to get an appointment and I have heard that they do not consider your request if you do not have an appointment. As usual, sending email is of no use as they do not reply.
Thanks a lot in advance !
