Hi Everyone,
I recently lost my passport and I-20 at my school . I got a new I-20 from the university recently. and i have collected all the doc's that are mentioned necessary in immihelp.com (in lieu of lost passport)
My appointment for passport is scheduled on dec 27th, with Indian consulate at San Francisco. I want to apply for my passport through mail as I cannot afford to go SFO in person (I am from san diego). I would like to list all the doc's that I am sending in the Mail for the embassy, before i mail it. It will be a great help if anyone of you can correct me or suggest me if somethings wrong or can be better if done in some other way.
1) Photo copy of lost passport
YES
2) Proof of status
Lost VISA xerox copy
3) Proof of residence
i) Driver's License
HITCH ii) Lease document for past 2 months. But I have been in USA for 2 years without signing any lease. Will this be a problem??
4) University ID, Enrollment letter from University
5) Proof of stay in USA, from the date mentioned in application
HITCH i) I am completely clueless what to provide on behalf of this. I am planning to send my I-20 as proof.
6) Indian Photo identity
HITCH i) I was planning to send ration card for this but recently observed that the ration card doesn't have my photo on it. And I do not have any kind of photo ID in India. except my SSC certificate and B.tech College ID. I am very scared for this. I have no option now regarding this
7) Birth certificate
YES
8) School leaving certificate
TC certificate of my SSC school
9) affidavit from indian residents
i) my professor (14 years)
ii) Uncle (20 years)
10) Police complaint

Loosing a passport in USA is like going through hell. That too w/o a SSN and getting job offers every other day is insult to injury. This what I am going through. Please let me know if i am going wrong with any small requirement and any modifications I can make it easier for the consulate people.
Sorry for being too ellobarate. But I had no other option than this.
Awaiting a quick reply so tat i can mail my documents at the earliest.
Thanking you.
