Dear Sir / Madam,

Your article at /compare-oci-card-with-pio-card/ is excellent but I am still not sure on a few points and your assistance will be much appreciated.

I was an Indian citizen and took up British Citizenship. I cannot make out from the comparison why I may want to choose one over the other? The key difference seems to be validity and consular access. What is consular access?

Also, my husband has always been British citizen and my daughter was born in the UK. So, can I apply for PIO for her?

Consular access is where the foreign embassy/consulate comes to your help in some very limited and rare circumstances.

Yes, you can apply PIO or OCI for her.

If your husband is not of Indian origin, he can apply for PIO.
