OCI Update - New Passport before 50

My current OCI card was issued in 2016. My US passport was subsequently renewed in 2024 and is valid until 2034. As a result of this renewal, the US passport # recorded on my OCI card is no longer the current one. I will also be turning 50 years of age in October 2025.

Can you tell me please if an online OCI update is necessary at this time or if this can be addressed upon the next renewal of my US passport in 2034 (which would be the first renewal after turning 50 years of age)? Thank you!

That is all for now. Next time you get a new passport (i.e., after 50), follow the same procedure one more time. That's all the requirements. It is clearly listed on that website. You renew (i.e., replace OCI card) only once if you received your first OCI before 20 years old. This doesn't apply to you.
