Eligibility for OCI Card

I am a US Citizen of Indian Origin.

Embassy of India in Republic of Uzbekistan in its website has mentioned that the documents required to establish birth in India include......."Passport of foreign country indicating the place of birth"



Please concfirm my eligibility for OCI Card based on the following proof I have of my father's birth in India:

I possess an old British passport issued to my late father indicating that he was born on 10th August, 1908 in Sialkot undivided India'

What is fee and what is the estimated time to process the application.

My father was entitled to Indian Citizenship by virtue of his birth in 1908 in undivided India.

There is some news of the merger of PIO & OCI Cards. I would like to have more details of this particularly the following:

a) Has the legislation to the above been passed. If so please identify the legislation including Rules and the Policy relating thereto.

b) If the legislation has not been passed, what is the esimated time within which the above merger pronouncements are likely to be implementd.

c) How can I access the draft of th proposed law and Rules relating to this.

Obviously, I am requesting for this this information to evaluate whether to proceed to apply for OCI now or await the new merge of the two cards.

Announcement by prime minister in a convention does not mean anything. It will be a long time before anything gets done, if at all.
