OCI Name Misspelled

Hello All,

I had applied for an OCI for my family and I just checked the status & saw that we have been 'Granted' OCI. But they have misspelled my Middle name and have put my father in law's name as my wife's middle name. I short both of our names are messed up.

Basically I have seen this online & I am yet to submitt my US passport (OCI has not been dispatched to the NY Consulate). So is there a way that I can make them aware that our names are messed up?? I am not sure what to do, so if someone can guide me I'd be very grateful.

You should contact the NY consulate office either via direct email or by 'Contact Us' link on their website and let them know about the potential problem referring to your online reg. number. Hopefully they can verify and have it corrected either while still in transit or re-order quickly if they have already received it at the consulate, but it still be better than if you receive it and then try to correct, which can take longer.

Thanks for the response & I did send emails made "unanswered" phone calls to the consulate but not to be surprised I never received an answer. Meanwhile the dispatch OCI has arrived at the Consulate. Now the question is that should I even send in my passports so that stamp the wrong visa. Because if I don't do it, they will cancel the visa and I will have to go through the process again.

But for now I am completely confused and I hope someone can guide me through this.
