Already OCI and passport doesn't have "Cancelled" stamp

I already got my OCI in 2007 and still my passport doesn't have 'cancelled' stamp...Still I need to pay of $175 or $200 penalty to get surrender certificate? or it's not required...
Is there any hassle while entering Indian airport?

it's required to cancel indian passport. check travisa website for the penalty.
there wont be any hassle entering india because u dont show/carry Indian passport. You will be showing only Forign passport and OCI.
