question about PIO card and OCI application

My wife and I both are Indian citizens with Greencards. We have 2 children (both US citizens) for whom we are planning to apply for PIO cards. We are also planning to apply for US citizenships for us and then later get OCI for both of us.

Should we get PIO cards for children before we apply for US Citizenship? Or, can we do both of steps in parallel?

PIO for kids is with Indian government and US citizenship for you is with US government.

They can happen in parallel.
