  • Renunciation of Indian Citizenship and Visa for India

    Hi :

I was recently naturalized and I have my US passport.
I have travel plans in two months. However, having read information,I'm all the confused with little link between information.

    a) Can I get a tourist visa (10 year validity ) to carry out my travel plans?
How much time does it take just for the issuance of the visa?I will send my application to Houston.

    Or also
b)I have to renounce my Indian Citizenship before I do apply for the visa.

What I have understood after reading the information is that after June 1 ,2010,renounciation of Indian Citizenship is a must to acquire Indian Visa.

Kindly clarify.I just want to feel confident about my pieces of information picked up.

i would appreciate if other members who are in the same boat, post comments .

    Any inputs would be apreciated.

The renunciation form is a definite requirement for any service like visa, oci or pio card.

If you do not have the renunciation form , complete the renunciation application and send the same along with the visa /oci /pio application. Please remember to send a Money order(separate preferable) for the renunciation . This amount will depend on when you received your US citizenship.

confirmaton for visa requirment = Renunciation

      Hi,

I didn't find anywhere on Indian embassy link that for visa - renunciation is required. It is required for PIO and OCI.
      Please confirm.

      Thanks,
      Anju
