  • Help needed - Applied PIO card for infant kid, my visa extension process in progress

    Hi,

I have applied for PIO card for my infant kid 2 weeks back.

My visa is expired around 2 months back and extension(L1) process is in progress.

Now PIO dept(Travisa Outsourcing) has updated that they are missing visa documents.

When I call the Travisa Outsourcing(first of all it is taking at least 1 hour to get connected to customer care agent) they telling that they need a valid/approved visa.

What happens if my extension gets rejected? Do I need to leave my infant kid alone and go to India

And the surprising thing is, my colleague has in exact same situation and his son's visa got approved.

Does any of you faced this situation. Let me know any thing can be done about it.

    Not sure how they work

    Hi,

I went to Travisa office today to check on the same issue and found people are so so so dumb. This is what I found in the order form of PIO application.

    12. Visa Status of Both Parents
If any or both parents are non-US citizens, then each parent must provide a copy of one of the following: your Permanent Resident Card (both sides), Employment authorization card or copy of page showing H1 / H4, L1/L2, F1/F2, J1/J2 etc. visa. It is essential that Indian passport holders who are applying for their child's PIO card must provide their visa status proof. If you have applied for visa extension, then such proof should be provided.

It is clearly mentioned that receipt of visa extension should be provided, but they want a receipt which say approved or an exact date which specifies some thing like petition accepted from xx date to yy date. Now I dont understand if petition is approved/accepted why is it called extension proof. I pretty much disappointed with the answer.

I have also told them that one of my colleague with same status of visa has got the PIO, then they said like it would have happened, but they can't accept my application.

STRANGE, WEIRED.....But I have to live with it, no other go.

    Thanks
    Gokul

Unable to get PIO and VISA duet to i applied for L1B extension

      Hi Gokul,

What happened in your case. I am also in the same situation. My I94 and VISA expired in july and i applied for PIO for my daugher in October. Travisa saying that we both (myself and my wife) need valid visa and i94 to apply PIO or VISA for my kid. I am not sure what i should do now.

I got L1B RFE and in case it gets denial, then we need to leave the country and i endup in neither PIO nor VISA for my daughter.

      What should i do now.

      Any help within the forum.

        Not to worry

Hi - I am sure you would have got a way out, just incase if not its very simple just talk to the Consulate General of India and explain the problem, they will talk to the Travisa India Outsourcing and the process will be resumed.
To get the contact information of Consulate General of India just do google - they are very helpful and will right away look into this problme.

I am also in the same situation. It appears there is a visa called Entry Visa as an alternative to PIO.I am not certain about the complete details of it though. Anyone who has a better knowledge can advise on an alternate solution?

                PIO for Minor Kid

I was in the same situation while i was at US wherein my visa L1B was in extension while my son was born and ultimately got denied. Below is what i did for getting a PIO card for my son

First of all if your visa is already in extension and your kid is born during that time you can not apply for PIO in USA and the application will be denied my Indian Consulate so do not waste time applying for a PIO instead apply for an Entry(x)visa and get your kid to India without hassles. Indian consulate will issue the entry visa. Please note that although you can get a visa with max term of 5 years but the max time you can stay in one go is 6 months

After landing in India you can apply for PIO via FRRO if you have a visa validity of more than 1 year. Now you need to be lucky enough to have a FRRO in your city. FRRO is in the following cities at this point.
In case you do not come under any of the cities listed in the website above then you have to send the application to delhi office yourself which becomes problamatic

Luckily for me i stay at mumbai and oersonally applied at FRRO mumbai. It took 45 days for the PIO card to be issued

Now i have read in lot of forums that you need to appostille your childs birth certificate and re apostille at new delhi. I had got my sons birth certificate apostilled at USA and that worked.

I never saw a proper reply on any forumso thought would just share my story of getting a PIO

                Cheers
