Question on copy of Naturalization Certificate for minor?

Hi,

We are US citizens thru Naturalization (from past 2 yrs) and applying for OCI for minor who born in May 2011. As per OCI checklist item 9 says below. As child is US citizen, is item 9 applies to him? or need to send parent Certificates along with notarized written statement signed ?

9. Copy of Naturalization Certificate

If you are a former Indian national, a copy of your Naturalization Certificate is required. If a minor gained naturalization through his/her parents and possesses no separate naturalization certificate, then copies of the parents' naturalization certificates and a notarized written statement signed by both parents is required stating the circumstances that their child received his/her naturalization status and why the child does not possess his/her own certificate.

Yes, it is applicable to the child as long as the child is US citizen through your naturalization and not due to birth in the U.S.

If the child was not born here, please provide what they are asking for.

Thx for the response. My son born in India but his nationality is US Citizen by bith because parents already US Citizen thru Naturalization. As per my understanding children born to US citizen any where in the world become US citizen by birth. Please confirm if Item 9 still applies in our case.

Was your child born after you became US citizen?

In other words, was your child ever Indian citizen? Held Indian passport?

Yes he born after we became US citizens.

He never hold Indian Citizenship or Passport. By birth he got US Passport.
