Passport Expiring...Travelling with kids

Hello
I'm a green card holder and currently on vacation in India( came by Sep 1st week)
My passport is expiring by first week of Feb 2012...I'm planning to travel back to US by mid DEC 2011.
My question is
Can I wait to get my passport renewed in US or should I get renewed in India?
If I can wait to get it renewed in US....Will there be any risks or questions at the Port of entry?
I searched the Consulate sites but not able to get any info...
My kids are US citizens and have valid passports and PIO cards.

Pls help...

You can get it renewed in the U.S. after you enter.
