I got US citizenship in 2001 and I discarded the Indian Passport. I want to apply for OCI card and the requirements says:
Document that provides sufficient evidence that you held Indian Citizenship, such as:
◦A notarized copy of educational certificate issued by an institution in India and land ownership certificate by which eligibility may be reasonably ascertained, OR
◦A duly notarized affidavit to that effect, OR
◦A copy of an Ancestral Nativity Certificate issued by an Indian official or magistrate with sufficient authority to confirm Indian origin of the applicant.
I have notarized copies of education certificates, but I dont have land ownership certificates since I never owned land in India.
Does anyone know if the land ownership certificates is required if you dont have an Indian passport? Thanks.
