Indian passport received with damaged photo

Hi..
I applied for tatkal passport and received it in Nov 2011. I noticed that the photo on my passport is smudged. It looks like it has happened because of laminating before the print dried.
A part of my face is unclear and the color of my dress (Was wearing a pink dress) has just flowed down a bit.

I thought it wouldnt be a problem, but some say its definitely an issue during VISA
Should I apply for a new one? Whats the guarantee that the same doesnt happen again?

Hi..saw your post . I am facing a similar situation .I received a new passport(reissue) in tatkal with smudged surname and date of birth and signature.i have to reapply for a US h1b visa soon and not sure whether this could be a cause for rejection...(i got a 221g earlier for submitting a new passport and now this new one is smudged ).

so i dont want to take any chance..can i get the booklet reprinted without having to go thru all procedures again

pls let me know how it went for you.also if anyone here as any other advice.many thx

If you're from Chennai, go to the passport office in Rayala towers Mount Road. You have to submit a written letter with these details and request for a new one. And they will issue a new one within a week. But again there'll be big queue, so make sure you check the timings and go there at the earliest.
