  • VFS passpot tracker not changing status since 2 months for change in name in passport

I have applied for my change in name in my passport in April 2012 at VFS global office in New York

But since then the VFS site is displaying status as
Application has been forwarded to the High Commission/Consulate General

I tried to call on VFS global contact number 202 800 7412
four time they told they will escalate it higher on this call after 48 hours
Later calling even after 48 hours they reply back saying that they are not getting answer.

I dont know what is the use of escalation if not getting reply even after more than a month.

one of the call center guy told that in general they reply in 3 days but in my case they are not getting reply even after re escalating it

I tried to call at consulate office in new york no one pick up the call

I dont know now what to do my husband company is waiting for my new passport to get my h4 processing started with my husbands h1 .

Now h1 Quota is about to close soon.

can any one help or suggest on what can i do now.

    Thanks

I am not sure if I can advise you anything other than continuous followups with the consulate / VFS office on the passport part. But your husband's employer need not wait for your passport to apply his H1. They can very well apply his H1 in the quota without applying H4 for you. They can apply for your H4 later once he changes his status to H1 (in October). Please confirm this with a lawyer.

      Similar issue here

I sent an application for a duplicate passport in lieu of the damaged passport. The application was processed by the consulate and passport returned to VFS new york office on june 8th. However they have yet to mail my passport back to me using the pre-paid envelope. I have called their call center thrice with no luck. each time I get a response stating that they have escalated to their New york office but have not received any response from them. Totally frustuating.

          Hi everyone..
I received my passport yesterday. I applied for passport at chicago consulate via VFS, which need my place of birth to be corrected. I submitted the application with other required documents at vfs in person. I took exactly 10 days for the processing. There was no need for court order for the processing as I had my original BC with me. I submitted a notarized copy of the birth certificate.

          Thanks, Hope this helps.

Hi, I had submitted my application for reissue of passport due to FNU problem( name split). I send mail via USPS on June 20 and it reached Chicago VFS office on June 22. I got a mail from VFS on June 25 saying application has been accepted and gave me the tracking number. On the same day by evening it said "Application has been forwarded to the High Commission/Consulate General on 25-June". On July 5, I saw the status as 'The processed application has been forwarded to the courier company". And I got it back via mail today( July 9).
The whole process with the mailing took me less than 20 days and they had printed my new passport within a week.

I have a similar issue here. I've been my passport was referred for clearance on May 4th and I am still waiting for an update. The VFS Call center just keep telling me to be patient. I have also reached out to the consulate and have not heard anything back. I really don't know what to do at this point.

              Any advice, please?
