Baby Born in US hold Indian Passport.....Problem travel back to USA..PLS HELP!!!

Hello

We are on L1 Visa , our baby is born in US this year.We have got Indian passport for our baby.We travelled to India 3 weeks back , there we have come to know that in order to return USA , baby need US passport . We have applied for US passport for our baby in US consulate in India.we are expecting to recieve passport in few days..
Because of my work I have returned back to US , where as baby and wife is in India...my question is after recieving the US passport , can baby travel to US holding both (US,Indian) passport ? If not then what is the procedure to surrender/cancel Indian passport...also do we need to get PIO/Visa till the time baby stay in India after getting US passport?

Please advise....
