Passport Renewal Questions

Hi All,

I am renewing my Indian passport and even though the steps listed on the BLS website and here on immihelp are pretty clear, I have a few clarifications and would appreciate if someone could answer:

1. In the nationality verification form, there is a field that says "date of leaving India". Is that the date I left India the first time or the latest time? This would also determine what I input into "period of stay abroad".

2. In the same form, there is a field "date of loss of passport". Since my passport is not lost and just need to be renewed, should I leave that field blank?

3. How many total photos do I need? One on the application form, one each on the 3 nationality verification form and one on change in appearance form? This makes a total of 5. I read somewhere that with the application form we have to submit 3 photos? Is that correct? If so, that would make the total of 7 photos.

4. To mail the passport and forms, do you have a recommendation on USPS, UPS or Fedex?

Passport Renewal Questions

Hey mayar, am looking for the same kind of queries like....do we really need to send 'Nationality Verification Form' even my passport is not expired....passport is itself is a Nationality Verification document, why BLs is asking Nationality Verification Form...... also I think we need only 4 photos.... 1 for application and 3 for Nationality Verification Form (if need to send).....I think. Change in Appearance Form is not required...lets see what other members say here.... am planning to send the documents soon by post.

Also do we need to make a Cashier’s cheque /Bank certified Cheque of the exact amount of $91.20 (10 Years for 36 pages passport) or it should be different figure on check.

BLS guys not gave enough information on their website and also people are giving them very very bad reviews for their service...lets see what's going to happen with us.

Nationality Verification Form

Hi,

Me too fall into same category. Need to know what to fill on Nationality Verification Form for DATE OF LEAVING INDIA (Recent or First visit?? ).
PERIOD OF STAY ABROAD (length of stay from recent visit or total stay in US ?)

visa extension for 3 yrs when passport expires next yr

Hi,

I too have the same question.

And also, I've heard we can only renew our passports 12 months before expiration. Is that true?

another question I have is - Will I be able to get my H1b Extended for 3 years even when my passport is valid only till one more year?

I would like to get my passport renewed before applying for my H1b Extension but because I've heard we can only renew our passports 12 months before expiration, I'am unable to do so.
