  • US born child

    Hi,

I and my wife are expecting a child this year end, we have been in US for last 3 months and we have been contemplating of whether having a child in US and have him/her a US citizen or we travelling back to India and having a child there. We have been thinking what benefits will our child had if he/she is born here in US v as compared of India.

We are not planning to settle in US for long term so I am not sure if the child having US citizenship will be good in long run. Also, we are thinking if the child is US citizen then all the studies in India will be under NRI quota and that would be very expensive for us.

Can you please provide your view points on pros and cons of having a child with US citizenship by birth.

    Thanks alot

I guess, When you have a child who is born in US, you can have some kind of card for him/her and it will be like a dual citizenship for he child. So even if you return to India, your child will be treated as the citizen of India as well, and as a result you won't have to pay for heavy tuition fees. At the same time, having a US citizenship ensures your child's future. He will nt have to pay heavy tuition fees for his higher studies here. Plus he will enjoy all the social security benefits as a citizen by birth.

Please check on the net about how to obtain that card. I'm not to sure about what the card is called.
Hope this information will help you.
