Registered Marriage in USA

I need information on how to get a registered marriage in USA. I am on H1 B visa and my fiance is a US citizen, if we want to register marriage in NY then please let me know what is the procedure. The information available on internet is not very clear regarding the same.

Your Visa status makes no difference. Just check with your local municipal authority's marriage license office.
