Green Card Missing Plz Suggest!!

Hi all:

I am USA and somehow i have misplaced my greencard i have searched the entire house but not able to find it. I have taken my citizenship interview and passed it. I just need to take the oath when i get back to the States. I dont know what to do..can i go back to the states without my greencard. my passport and visa is with me and has my greencard number in it.

Please help any suggestions?

contact the nearest consulate for help, they will be able to issue you some travel documents. I hope you have copies of the GC. If the stamp (I551) in the passport is not expired then you can use it. But not any other visa stamp.

Thank you so much for ur reply I do have my GC number in my passport cuz i am sure you know when we get a GC first we get a stamp on the passport and then we get the same "A" number on the GC so do you think I can show it to the US consulate in Kolkata and they can help me.

they should. you mentioned in the mail that you are in USA but I am assuming that you are abroad. do you not have a copy of the GC anywhere.

The stamp might work. They should be able to pull up the record anyways. do contact the consular sevices dept of the consulate asap. There might be a delay in travel.

Oh I am sorry i forgot to mention that I am in India currently in Kolkata. Thank you so much for your help. I am gonna go to the consulate soon.
