Renewal of indian passport

I need help in renewing my indian passport which is expiring on 30 sept 2009. I m in OHIO. Which consular service do I need to contact? where I can find the renewal application form? Do I need to go in person? What are documents do I need to submit?

if you can make it to an indian consulate i think the nearest to you is chicago, your passport will be done by the 5 in the evening its a matter of one day.

No, not true. Chicago does not have a 1 day service for passport at all. PP renewal is a 15 day service unless it is a life or death emergency.

Ohio is not serviced by Chicago and falls under NY.

thats y i said "i think" one of my friends here did it and i know he did cuz i dropped him and picked him up. i dont know what his exact situation was ..something like getting opt approved i think. ofcourse i could be wrong.

Only Misc services like name corrections or endorsements of documents etc. are done the same day. Your friend might have dropped the PP off couple of weeks back and picking up later when you got involved.

and few more questions,

1) I get a error(certificate verification) when I tried to open the web page for online application. This happens with Firefox and IE. Is this a false alarm?

2) For new passport application, Do I need to provide Affidavit?

3) I can only get photograph of 2 inch x 2 inch (5 cm x 5 cm). Is that acceptable size? (requirement is 3.5cm x 3.5 cm)

4) I want to confirm the mailing address for Consulate General of India, Chicago.

I greatly appreciate if I get help in my questions.

I kept Indian Address in "Address to be printed on Passport" Column and in the other address column I kept my USA address. I am not sure if its correct. I have submitted my application, will let u know if I get any problems.

Yes that is false alarm.

If your passport has already expired before 6 months or so then u need to submit affidavit please. U can send 2x2 inch photographs. Our address is given on our site www.indianconsulate.com please. However, it is " 455 N.City front Plaza Drive, NBC Tower Building, suit no. 850, Chicago IL 60611.
