US passport validity

Looking for inputs -
We are traveling to India on Nov 25th through Dec 25th.My kids are US citizens.Their US passport is valid until May 2022.I have this question whether the 6 month passport validity is asked even for American citizens?

Would this be a problem for my children at all??
