Dear fellow Indians-
Hope you are doing well.
We would really appreciate it if you could please help me clarify the below question as we are in squeezed time to travel to India and We have to come back to US for work.
My son was born in US , Chicago, and we applied his Indian passport , it is still in process with consulate.
1 ) We understand India does not recognize dual Citizenship, referring to "facility of Dual citizenship to minor till the age of 18 1/2 years under Section-04 of the Citizenship Act, 1955" , my Child satisfies all conditions outlines under citizenship act 1955, So after applying for Indian Passport, Can we also apply for his US passport and can he carry both passport until he turns 18 1/2 YO without losing Indian Passport and Indian Citizenship?
We frequently travel between US <> India , and we already applied his Indian passport.
2) As the US requires a US passport to enter into USA and US won't be issuing him a VISA, so how can we bring my son into US on Indian passport? Can we also apply US Passport without having to surrender his Indian passport? Are Minor Child under 18 can have 2 Passports( Citizenship act 1955 U/S 4) until he turns 18YO?
WE have contacted VFS Chicago , so far no response to our e-mail.
