  • OCI for 89 years old person question

    Hello Everyone,

First of all great forum with greatful information. I love this forum, I've learned lot of good stuff from here.

    My issues:
    - Trying to get OCI for wife's grandpa who is 89 years old in california.
    - We really didn't want OCI but last we tried to apply for visa for 5 years and they only gave it to him for 6 months only. Don't know why would they do that.
    - So we want to apply for OCI so we don't have to keep getting visas.
    - He has been US citizen since 1985.
    - He has lost his Indian Passport and doesn't have birth certificate or any proof of origin of India paperwork.
    - I ordered that CD from US dept under freedom act to see anything was there.. BUT no luck

So, what can I do get him OCI without having Indian Passport and birth certificate or school leaving paperwork....?

    Please help.

P.S. > I've tried calling Travisa but no help from them.

Thank you so much in advance for any help.

I would say that for such old person just get whatever you can easily get. Practically, he may not need it for too long anyway.

I totally agree. I only wanted regular entry visa for 5 years. But they gave him only visa for 6 months. So I don't want to keep applying for visa every 6 months.

This is why we wanted to apply for OCI, so we don't have to worry about it.
