  • H4 dependant Medical Expense

    Hi,

I am on H1B visa and my wife is on H4 dependant visa. In 2020 my wife had sudden medical issue resulting in me taking to her to emergencies couple of time.
This resulted in huge medical bill inspite of me having an insurance. Is there a way to reduce this bills. Kindly guide.

    Hello,
I'm sorry to hear about your wife's medical issues and the resulting bills. Here are a few steps you can take to potentially reduce the medical bills: mypoints
    1. Review the Bills: Carefully check all the charges for any errors or discrepancies.
    2. Negotiate with the Hospital: Contact the hospital's billing department to negotiate a lower amount or set up a payment plan.
    3. Apply for Financial Assistance: Many hospitals have financial assistance programs for patients in need. Check if you qualify for any discounts or aid.
    4. Use Health Savings Accounts (HSA): If you have an HSA, you can use the funds to pay for eligible medical expenses.
    5. Consult a Medical Billing Advocate: They can help you navigate the billing process and potentially reduce your costs.

It's also a good idea to consult with a tax advisor to see if you can claim any medical expenses on your taxes.

    Best Regards,
