  • clarification please between visitor and immigrant insurance

I am ready to purchase accident/health insurance. I am currently a Canadian citizen and a greencard holder who has not yet moved to the US, specifically Texas.
It seems to me that if I purchase a form of visitors insurance and hold a greencard, like Insubuy has been trying to sell to me, they could claim that since I am already a greencard holder-and a future resident and not a VISITOR, this would preclude me receiving benefits if i were to have an accident and get sick.Could they not use this to deny claims???? If anyone can weigh in or has had experience buying travel insurance while already having a greencard I would appreciate it. Does anyone have positive and negative experiences with IMG or other forms of Travel/New immigrant inusrance?

    Thanks

We never try to sell something to someone who is not eligible for a given product. Even if the customer insists that they would like to purchase some product and we come to know that such person would not be eligible for that, we strongly discourage such person from buying that product. We never do outbound telemarketing. Therefore, it is inappropriate to say "Insubuy has been trying to sell to me."

There are some products that visitors can buy but greencard holders can not buy. There are other products that visitors as well as greencard holders can buy under some situations. Legally, there is no official product as 'visitors insurance' or 'new immigrant insurance'. Those are the casual names given to various insurance plans depending upon what kind of people may be eligible to purchase them.

There are many factors such as the age of the person, how long they have been staying in the US or how long they plan to stay in the US, how long they need the insurance, what other options they may have (such as through job or spouse or otherwise), kind of benefits desired and the cost they are comfortable with, and so on.
Therefore, It would be the best if you can call our office so that we can anaylze your situation and offer you the plan that may be most suitable for you.
    Thanks & Regards

Thanks for your response, Indeed you are correct when you say that Insubuy does not outbound, I did not mean to imply this.
Given the fact that I am a Canadian Citizen, greencard holder, still in Canada but will be moving permanently at the end of January, how does this make me eligible for visitors or travel insurance? Are Patriot America or Patriot America Platinum strictly visitors insurance or can a greencard holder be a "visitor" if they have not established residency yet? Can someone like me, a greencard holder but not yet resident of a state apply for this coverage? Perhaps I am weighing too much in the symantics of it all but so do underwriters and I would like to make sure I am covered for accidents. My husband does not have health coverage.
