You may contact Medicaid directly to confirm eligibility as this varies from state to state. Until your parents are eligible to purchase a domestic plan, you may purchase a short term plan option called International Major Medical. As long as the insureds are non-US citizens they are eligible to purchase this plan, and can be covered in the United States. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at 1(866) INSUBUY 467-8289, as we are always happy to help.

You can buy insurance online for your green card holder parents by visiting healthcare.gov site and apply insurance online for your parents. It’s a smooth process and if your parents income is less than usd 25000 then they may be eligible for Medicaid or health insurance from marketplace. If they get insurance from marketplace then they will be eligible for premium tax credit which will be almost equal to the monthly premium of insurance policy. So you have to pay nil or small amount of insurance premium

Hi Guys, I am in NJ as well. Wondering how the premium works for ACA and how to claim your parents on taxes so that the premium is not out of control. The premium is based on the housel hold income and how that plays? My parents have very minimum income in India from pension.
