As a green card holder in the US, you have access to health insurance options such as plans through the Health Insurance Marketplace, COBRA coverage if applicable, or short-term health insurance plans. Additionally, you may consider temporary visitor health insurance until you secure long-term coverage.

If you're a Green Card holder, you’re generally eligible for health insurance in the U.S. There are a few options depending on your situation. You can go through the marketplace, especially if you don’t have employer coverage. If you're unsure where to start, I suggest checking out companies like Lucky Penny Insurance. They can help you find a plan that fits your needs, whether you’re looking for something basic or more comprehensive. The marketplace can sometimes be confusing, but it’s worth looking into. If you’re eligible for Medicaid, that's another excellent option. Feel free to ask if you need any more help with this. Getting health insurance sorted can be a bit of a maze, but once you’re in it, it’s a relief.Last edited by ShelHarby; 12-24-2024, 06:20 AM.

Welcome to the U.S. and congratulations on your green card! For health insurance, visitors insurance is typically for short-term stays and might not fully cover you as a green card holder. You might want to explore plans through the Health Insurance Marketplace at healthcare.gov, as green card holders are eligible to enroll even without a job yet. Medicaid could be an option depending on your state and income level, but it varies by location. If you're unsure which state you'll reside in, consider a short-term private insurance plan until you settle. Best of luck with your move and job search!
