I also accidentally asked this on the other board but have more information on this one. I am trying to determine which health insurance I should get for later this year. I am from and am a resident of Ireland. 35yrs old with no pre-existing illness. I am looking for a comprehensive plan that will also cover completely just as good at home as it will worldwide including north America.
I plan to take a year off and have various trips I want to do. –maybe in total I estimate 7 months in Canada/America 1 month in Europe and 4 months at home in Ireland between all my trips.
Any suggestions? Do I really need comprehensive or would a fixed plan be better since I would only figure to be covered for severe accidents or severe illnesses. But then again a severe illness/accident in while in the US couls be very costly right? Am I guessing some sort of expatriate plan?
One more question. In Ireland do you have a PPO network or preferred list of hospitals/doctors you use?
