ECR on passport for Hong Kong work permit

My passport from March 2007 has the "Emigration Check Required" (ECR) stamp though I am a graduate with a B.Tech degree.
Would there be any issue for travelling to Hong Kong on work permit (for employment)?
I am finding conflicting responses from people. Can someone please confirm with the correct details out of experience or knowledge.
