How to correct Place of Birth on my Passport (after 15 years)?

Hi,

I have my first passport issued in 2001, which had birth place as per my school living certificate. I didn't have my birth certificate on that time so I had applied for the passport based on my School LC. Not sure how my school living certificate had wrong birth place.
Later I find out, to apply for my GC I will need my birth certificate. So last year when I visited India, I applied and got my birth certificate- with actual birth place.
Now my passport and birth certificate have mismatch town name for birth place. How can I correct it?
Do I need a court order issued by a judicial officer? How can I get it in USA?

Hey TManiar

Did you get any updates on your change in place of Birth. I heard its just the birth certificate and a change request letter needed at the Indian Consulate in NY, check with BLS who handles this.

Did you get the changes in your passport done??
Different in 10th certificate and birth certificate..Although I wanto stick to BC.
Please let me how u got your passport done.
