Hi,
I have an issue I need to resolve. I am in US since last year and I am on F1 visa. I got married in gurudwara (sikh temple) in India last year but we didnt registered our marriage in India in court. Me and my wife (also on F1 visa) came to US after our gurudwara ceremony. My passport expires next year and I need to add my spouse name in my renewed passport but we need a marriage certificate from India, which we do not have. Since we are not legally married in India, can me and my 'wife' marry in US and take that certificate to Chicago consulate to add my spouse name. Also I am asking this since my wife cannot go back to India (to register our marriage) before my passport expires.
