Police Verification after two years of receipt of Tatkal Passport

Hi Experts, I am not sure if I am placing my request in the correct forum but still want to get some help or expert advice on the matter I will state here. My wife received her Passport on Tatkal scheme in Dec, 2013 upon verification certificate from an IAS secretary. She received OK report from the DIB of her post-marriage address and the DIB stated that the DIB of her pre-marriage address has Okayed the report. After all these we travelled to US upon proper VISA stamping and we are still in US continuing with my job. My parents in India has received a call today (after 2 years of issuance of passport) from the DIB of my wife's previous place requesting my parents or my wife's parents to physically visit the Police Station with some documents for verification. Could you please help me understand, how after 2 years police is asking for verification document.. or there is any other behind the screen matter associated. Thank you for your help and advice.
